Flutes in Tuscany 2019

July 13th – 21th 2019 | Guest tutor Philippa Davies

Our guest tutor was the amazing Philippa Davies who treated us to some expert teaching – both one to one and in masterclasses and a wonderful recital, performing solos by Paul Reade and Jan Willem Nelleke, Flute Sonata by Taktakishvilli and Cantabile and Presto by Romanian Georg Enesco and with resident and course co-ordinator, cellist Sebastian Comberti, giving a lively rendition of Villa-Lobos’s Jet Whistle, followed by a delightfully surprising combination of J.S. Bach ‘s Cello Suite coupled with a floating flute version of The Swan. Pure Joy!

Our talented Young Artist, Alyse Faith also gave a stunning recital with Sally Birkett and we had two Italian guests during the week, a flute technician, Massimiliano Brescini and renaissance and early baroque flute maker, Filadelfino Puglisi This year we introduced a Blog before the course started and asked course participants to contribute during the week, so I hardly need to write a review here, instead I would recommend you to read the Journal
